Adapted from the British novel "Fingersmith" by Sarah Waters, the story follows a young Korean female pickpocket from the slums who is hired by a charming con man to join an elaborate scam. She becomes the personal servant of a wealthy Japanese heiress and seduces her.
'The Handmaiden' premieres at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival this summer, no date is set yet, but it's expected to open later this year.
