The 82nd Annual Academy Award Nominations

The Oascar nominations are in and the leading two films are 'Avatar' and 'The Hurt Locker' with 9 nominations each. Ireland has a strong representation this year with Tomm Moore-directed 'The Secret of Kells' being nominated in the Best Animated Film category

Director Nicky Phelan and producer Darragh O'Connell's 'Granny O'Grimm's Sleeping Beauty', written and performed by comic Kathleen O'Rourke, is among the Best Animated Short Film nominees and in live action shorts Juanita Wilson and James Flynn's 'The Door' is nominated.

Also Richard Baneham is among the nominees in the Best Visual Effects category for his work on 'Avatar'and Peter J Devlin is among the nominees for Best Sound Mixing for his work on 'Star Trek'.
