'Saw VI' Director Attached To Paranormal Activity Sequel

Paramount has hired 'Saw VI' director Kevin Greutert to helm the sequel to 'Paranormal Activity' which has been slated for an October 22 release, the same release day as 'Saw VII'. 'Paranormal Activity' blitzed 'Saw VI' last year in the halloween box office battle and dethroned the once unbeatable Saw franchise from the annual top spot and ended up grossing more than $150 million at the worldwide box office, making it the most profitable film in Paramount's history.

Oren Peli who directed the original on a shoestring budget of $15,000 will now produce the follow-up alongside Jason Blum and Steven Schneider, Michael R. Perry has been commissioned to write the script.

"These guys get it, and the fans won't be disappointed," said Peli of the new creative team.
