...And finally, the Superman sequel Man of Steel. The WB insider recognizes there has been a lot of buzz on the internet following the success of Iron Man and The Dark Knight, for a Superman sequel, but they really just don't know what's going on at this time. I asked him if Bryan Singer was still attached. He said he didn't know where it stands right now at the studio level since Singer has been busy on Valkyrie.IGN also noted this in an interview with Kevin Spacey that he is to play Lex Luthor in 2009:
Buried deep within a new interview with actor Kevin Spacey is a tidbit about the sequel to Superman Returns, which co-starred the Oscar winner as the villainous Lex Luthor.
The Independent reports today that the producers of the Superman sequel "will be paying (Spacey) big bucks to reprise his role as Lex Luthor next year." It was reported in August that Warner Bros. plans to reintroduce the Man of Steel to audiences by 2011.
Given the astounding commercial success of the grim and gritty The Dark Knight, Warner Bros. Pictures Group President Jeff Robinov recently told the Wall Street Journal that the studio's upcoming DC Comics movie slate is "going to try to go dark to the extent that the characters allow it," and the next Superman movie will be no exception.
